Messaging and Storytelling about the Rule of Law – Workshop

13-14 June, Villa Grébovka, Prague

For civil society activists, journalists, and judges from Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia.

The erosion of rule of law in a number of countries in the region elevates the risk of corruption, inequality and criminal conduct and threatens democracy, security, and trust in judiciary. It has become more important than ever to persuasively and effectively communicate about the importance of the rule of law and the independence of judiciary, and to develop impactful campaigns to convey the message to the general public.

This workshop helps participants to better communicate complex issues of rule of law and the importance of judiciary independence to different types of audiences and the general public, and design compelling campaigns and communication material. It will equally focus on the judiciary perspective in interacting with the CSOs and the public to effectively communicate about the importance of the rule of law and related values, while ensuring that the key principles of the judiciary environment are respected.

Combining theory and practice, the workshop will focus on the key concepts, goals and good practices in communicating about these important topics and provide an opportunity for practical exercises and active dialogue. Participants and expert speakers will include representatives of CSOs, legal professionals and judges from the region and beyond.

This workshop is destined for civil society activists, journalists, and judges from Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia.
